Our custom orthotics are designed to support your feet, improve your comfort and help you stay active every day.

Just as people’s eyes differ, your feet vary in size, shape and function. We will examine any underlying biomechanical changes that may have contributed to your symptoms.
Orthotics are not simply arch supports; they are custom-made devices that functionally alter how your foot strikes the ground. We examine underlying biomechanical changes that contribute to your symptoms (using gait analysis) to create bespoke inserts tailored precisely to your foot’s size, shape, and unique function.
The Custom Fabrication Process
This process begins following a detailed anatomical examination and gait analysis; numerical measurements are taken whilst standing and lying down. These measurements form the basis of your custom prescription, designed to functionally correct your underlying problem. Next, a plaster cast impression is taken of your feet whilst you are lying down to capture your natural foot position, without your body weight, body mass, and gravity affecting alignment. This mould is then sent to our laboratory, where it is used to manufacture your bespoke orthotic devices.

Three Main Types of Orthotics
- Functional Orthotics: Designed to prescriptively correct anatomical issues and control posture. They are typically made from dense EVA material (a rubber-based material), which offers correction and shock absorption.
- Accommodative (Non-casted) Orthotics: These orthotics provide essential cushioning and pressure relief using soft, shock-absorbing materials. They are ideal for patients with diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis. We design them using a template of your current footwear. To use them, simply swap your shoe’s original insoles for your new custom orthotics.
- Ankle Foot Orthotics (AFOs): Produced from a cast of the entire leg and foot to stabilise the foot, ankle, and leg to correct a foot drop, often seen in those patients who have suffered a stroke or present with conditions such as cerebral palsy or Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
Gradual Introduction (Wearing-In)
Since functional orthotics realign your feet and ankles, you must wear them in very gradually. We advise adding 30 minutes of wear time each day, over a period of two weeks, to allow your body time to acclimatise to the new corrective position. Athletes, particularly runners, should wait until fully worn in before returning to sport, building up distance in small increments.
Common Complaints Relieved by Orthotics
Orthotic devices reduce excessive forces and provide relief for a wide range of common complaints, including:
- Heel pain (e.g., Plantar Fasciitis)
- Achilles pain
- Flat feet
- Knee pain
- Low back pain
