Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you are struggling with a persistent sports injury, painful ingrown nails, or simply want to keep your feet in peak condition, we know that choosing the right care involves many questions.
Below, we have answered the most common queries regarding private podiatry in the UK to help you feel confident and informed before you step into our clinic.

Generally, no. You can self-refer to a private podiatry clinic without seeing your GP first. However, if you intend to claim the cost through private medical insurance, your provider may require a GP referral to authorise your treatment. It is always best to check your specific policy terms before booking.

Yes, we work with several major health insurers, though coverage depends on your specific plan. Please note the following requirements for our supported providers:
WPA, Aviva, Simplyhealth, and Vitality: Most of these providers cover podiatric consultations and specific treatments (such as gait analysis or nail surgery). You will typically need to obtain a pre-authorisation code from your insurer before your appointment.
Bupa: We are currently only able to accept Bupa claims for nail surgery performed by Mr. Stanley. Bupa does not cover routine podiatry or general consultations at this clinic.
Simplyhealth: As this is often a “cash plan” rather than traditional PMI, you usually pay for your treatment upfront and use your receipt to claim the money back directly from them.
Note: Patients are responsible for any policy excesses or shortfalls not covered by their insurance provider. We recommend contacting your insurer’s helpline to confirm your level of cover for “Podiatry” or “Chiropody” before your visit.
